The Atom Economic Zone is the Future of Interconnected & Decentralized Economies
The Atom Economic Zone (AEZ) is a collection of semi-sovereign blockchains that all "rent" security from The Cosmos Hub, as well as align themselves & their own tokenomics with the $ATOM token.
The AEZ currently consists of 4 blockchains, each with their own native token, and validator* set.
This collective is powered by Interchain Security (ICA), a Cosmos-SDK enabled technology that allows smaller chains to inherit the security of larger ones, while still retaining a high level of autonomy. Due to the AEZ being a collection of chains, it has no central authority or controlling organization; for example, this site is built & maintained by Interchain Info, as well as users like you!

What is the Atom Economic Zone?
The AEZ is a collection of semi-sovereign, IBC- connected consumer chains that all “rent” security from the Cosmos Hub. All chains are built on the CosmosSDK and in tight alignment with the Hub and the $ATOM token, as well as each other.
*Instead of validators, consumer chains technically have governors that play a similar role for the end user.
What is the purpose of the AEZ?
Starting with the launch of IBC back in Feb. 2021, Cosmos has introduced the concept of multi-chain ecosystems that are both sovereign, yet inherently interconnected.
The AEZ is the first large scale, formal and organized effort to coordinate and tightly align the interests and technical developments among a group of chain.
What are the benefits of joining the AEZ?
There are two primary driving factors behind the AEZ growth and success that benefit all chains involved:
1. PoS chains with smaller market caps can effectively have the same security as the Cosmos Hub.
2. The overall tokenomics, development direction, and functions for all chains involved are aligned such that they serve to reinforce one another.
As an end user, what can I do in the AEZ?
It depends what you're into!
• You can acquire $ATOM and stake it on the Hub to receive emissions & fee rewards, as well as
participate in governance.
• You can participate in DeFi, collect NFTs, and much more on Neutron.
• You can unlock more liquidity from across Cosmos by utilizing Strides cross-chain liquid staking!
Are there specific criteria or requirements for chains to join the AEZ?
There are two high level criteria for chains to be able to join the AEZ.
1. They must implement replicated security.
2. They must be accepted into the AEZ through on-chain governance.
What is Interchain Academy?
The Interchain Academy, or ICA, helps users of all skill levels explore and learn about anything in web3 at their own pace.
While we'll be initially focusing on the AEZ and Cosmos, we aim for this tool to by helpful for general web3 onboarding as well.
